Acupuncture Visit #2

Today I went to my appointment feeling no anxiety whatsoever as I knew what to expect. I actually looked forward to my appointment. This time I had to lay on my back, face up. I had heat lamp (though not really a lamp, so maybe just a heater?) on my stomach. The acupuncturist placed a needle in my forehead, one on top of my head, one in each ankle area, one in my right wrist area and two on my left hand (one in the webbing of the thumb and pointer finger and one in my thumb). I got to relax (a.k.a nap) for about 20-30 minutes. I lost track of time so I'm really not sure. When he (the acupuncturist) came back into the room, he removed the needles and massaged my head and temples and then worked on the knots in my upper back. I was probably at my appointment about an hour and 15 minutes over all.

During the massage, the acupuncturist talked to me about feng shui. I'd heard of the words before but didn't know what they meant. According to one website I looked at feng shui means:

Feng Shui is the study of how the environment affects those who dwell in it. It literally means wind and water. Feng Shui can help you determine the best home to live in, which colors can help enhance your home, the best bed positions for deep sleep, and how to change your business or home into a center of power. Feng Shui can help improve your health, your relationships and your prosperity. It is a complex scientific calculation, rather than a metaphysical reading relying on inspiration or intuition. We live in a planet that is filled with different energies. Our planet rotates on its axis, creating cycles of day and night. The earth also revolves around the Sun in yearly cycles and is subjected to various gravitational and magnetic fields. Our solar system is moving through space and is also subject to other forces in the Universe. These physical forces and many different time cycles affect us profoundly. The Chinese have spent centuries observing the effects if these forces and learning how to better harmonize humans with their environment. this is the science and art of Feng Shui.

He gave me some examples of how feng shui interacts with our lives and I understand the basics, I guess. I'll do whatever I can to de-stress my life and have my body balanced!  I already feel relaxed when I leave my appointments. Hopefully once school is out, I can remain relaxed. Two more weeks until my next appointment! :)
